Upper Mustang Trek is an excellent escapade through the trans-Himalayan terrains of the Northern Himalayas. This trek traverses through several Tibetan settlements to reach Lo Manthang, the Capital of the Forbidden Kingdom of Upper Mustang. The Mustang region is among the few unexplored lands where not many people have set foot. The city is surrounded by walls from all sides and until 1992, this kingdom did not allow foreign travelers inside the city. And even today, this city falls in the restricted regions which means that foreigners need to have a special area permit in order to trek in this area.Architectural masterpieces overwhelm the city and the rugged terrains of this region give this place a unique and heavenly appearance. The people living here inherit ancient and unspoiled Tibetan cultures which are quaint to the modern world. Walking in the city of Lo Manthang gives you the feel of walking back in ancient times.

And guess what: This trek is doable all year round thanks to the fact that the Upper Mustang Trekking trail lies in the rain shadow regions of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
