Langtang, Gosainkunda Sundarijal Trek

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. (1,300m/4,264ft)

    Upon arriving at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by the representative of K.J. Adventures. He will then transfer you to the hotel and help you through the check-in process. The representative will then brief you regarding the programs of the adventure in detail. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek preparation. (1,300m/4,264ft)

    A leisure day in the city with a full-day sightseeing in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites around Kathmandu valley. We will visit: Pashupatinath Temple Pashupatinath Temple is one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus. It is also considered as the largest Hindu temple in South Asia with iconic Hindu God, Goddesses and hundreds of Shiva Lingam. The two-tiered golden temple is a perfect example of the Nepalese architecture. Although tourists are not allowed inside the premises of the temple, they can witness the open cremation in the bank of the Bagmati river. Boudhanath Stupa Boudhanath Stupa is one of the biggest and oldest Buddhist monument in the world. It is Considered to be the tomb of Kassapa Buddha, Boudhanath marks as one of the most significant destinations in Buddhism. The place is no less significant when it comes to architecture. The dome-shaped stupa is built with different three levels in a Mandala style and is decorated with colorful prayer flags. The atmosphere of Boudhanath Stupa is both vibrant as well as tranquil. Kathmandu Durbar Square Located in the heart of the city, Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the ancient royalties of Nepal. The site holds the massive Royal square with varieties of temples dedicated to Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Other attraction of this place is Kumari Ghar, Taleju Temple, Kasthamandap, Kaal Bhairav, and Jagannath Temple. Swayambhunath Stupa Another ancient marvel located in the western hillock of Kathmandu. This Buddhist stupa is considered one of the best attraction of Kathmandu City. From ancient architecture to ancient symbolism, Swayambhunath is an important shrine in both Buddhist as well as Hindu culture. The stupa comprises many important shrines, monastery, temples, museum, and library. After the full day sightseeing, we will do the necessary preparation for the trek in the evening.   • Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi. (1,550m/5,100ft)

    We depart from Kathmandu, early in the morning for Syabrubesi. This 7-hour drive winds through the high ridges providing excellent views of Langtang, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal. We drive through the bustling town of Trishuli and Dhunche before reaching our overnight destination at Syabrubesi. Overnight at the local teahouse.

  • Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel. (2,380m/7,830ft)

    After the early morning breakfast, we commence our day with the walk alongside Langtang Khola. The trail then leads to simultaneous uphill and downhill through the rhododendron and oak forest. Upon crossing the bridge of Langtang Khola, the forest trail to Lama Hotel becomes steeper. However, the walk is quite rewarding with the ever-changing sceneries all around.

  • Day 05: Trek to Langtang Village. (3,500m/11,483ft)

    On this day, our walk continues through the forest trail with occasional glimpses of the mighty Langtang Lirung through the woods along with abundant waterfalls. Upon arriving at the green meadow of Ghoda Tabela, the trail emerges out of the forest with the massive Langtang range looming on either side of the valley. We continue the walk with a gentle uphill along with the widening valley and pass through temporary settlements used by herders. Our trail then leads to an ancient Buddhist monastery before reaching our overnight destination at Langtang Village. This village was largely affected by the earthquake in 2015. Although the entire village was destroyed in the 2015 earthquake, most of the lodges have been rebuilt and are ready for the service.

  • Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa and Hike to Kyanjin Ri. (3,870m/12,697ft)

    After breakfast, we continue our adventure early in the morning with a walk towards Mundu. After Mundu, the trail leads gradual uphill through the yak pastures towards the widening valley. We walk past several small streams, moraines, and occasional chortens. After crossing the largest mani wall of Nepal, the trail reaches the village of Kyanjin Gompa. Resting in the lap of Himalayas, the village of Kyanjin Gompa offers picturesque views of the landscapes and surrounding mountains. As we reach the village by lunchtime, there is plenty of time to explore around the area. After lunch, we hike up to the vantage point of Kyanjin Ri at the elevation of 4,400m. Although the climb may get strenuous at times, the view from the top makes every step worth it. Langtang Lirung (7,245m) dominates the extraordinary view as the entire face of the mighty massif can be observed in the northeast. We enjoy the breathtaking view from the top before descending back to the village. Overnight at the local lodge at Kyanjin Gompa.

  • Day 07: Exploration Day: Hike to Tserko Ri (4,984m/16,351ft). Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa. (3,870m/12,697ft)

    Tough day! Today, we hike up to another landmark destination of this trek at Tserko Ri (4,984m). We start our day early in the morning along the yak pastures and ascend towards Tserko Ri which marks as the highest elevation point of the entire trek. We relish the extraordinary sunrise as it emerges behind the towering mountains. After enjoying the stunning views, we then descend back to the village. If you choose to wander around the village, we can also visit the monastery, or hike up to the moraine to enjoy the spectacular ice faces and glaciers of Langtang Lirung.

  • Day 08: Trek to Lama Hotel. (2,380m/7,830ft)

    On this day, we simply retrace our route back to Lama Hotel. We leave the valley behind and descend alongside Langtang Khola through several villages including Mundu and Ghoda Tabela. After crossing the bridge over Langtang Khola, we walk through the shades of oak and rhododendron trees to reach our overnight destination at Lama Hotel.

  • Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru. (2,230m/ 7,316 ft)

    After breakfast,we begin our trek with a climb up to the Rimche Village descending through Langtang Khola.Passing through juniper and rhododendron forests,we ascend to Landslide Lodge and continue our trek to Thulo Syabru.Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

  • Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa

    Easy day! Today we will do short trek to acclimatize the high altitude.We will have a amazing views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Gaurishankar, and other Himalayas on the way.We pass through Garta Village and Phulung Monastery before reaching Shin Gompa.Overnight in Shin Gompa.

  • Day 11: Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,460m/14,632ft)

    Today we trek through wild forests and several small lakes on our way to reach LaureBinayak.Panoramic views of the Himalayas including the Annapurnas, Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang from LaureBinayak is truly astonishing.We continue our trek to Gosaikunda.Gosaikunda is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindu and buddhist religion people.The lake is surrounded by mountains and the lake water is believed to have magical healing powers. Every year during Janai Purnima in August,people visit the lake for a holy bath to wipe away all the sins.The large rock at the center of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. Overnight in Gosaikunda.

  • Day 12: Gosainkunda Lake to Tharepati (3610m/11843ft)

    Today,we walk around the lake’s shore and continue our trek to Tharepati by passing through highest point of trek LAurebina pass also known as Gosaikunda Pass.Enjoying the panoramic views of the Himalayas,we reach Tharepati.Overnight in Tharepati.

  • Day 13: Tharepati to Kutumsang (2470m/8103ft)

  • Day 14: Kutumsang to Chisapani (2215m/7267ft)

    Easy day! Today we will do short trek to Chisapani passing through spectacular landscapes and several ridges before reaching Jogin Danda, Gul Bhanjyang, and Thotong Danda.Then we have to continue our trek passing through wide dusty road until we reach our destination for tonight.Overnight in Chisapani.

  • Day 15: Chisapani to Sundarijal (1410m/4625ft)and Drive back to Kathmandu

    After breakfast,we continue our last day of the trek ascending to Borlang Bhanjyang and continue our trek through rhododendron, oak and pine forest to reach Sundarijal.From here,we end our trek and drive back to Kathmandu(45 minutes drive).Upon arriving at the city, the representative of K.J Adventures will escort us to the hotel where we can relax and freshen up. We might also wander around Thamel for the souvenir shopping. In the evening, we will celebrate the success of our trek with a farewell dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 16: International Departure.

    Departure day! Depending upon your flight schedules, the representative of K.J. Adventures will pick you up from the hotel and escort you to the airport for the final departure.
